Mr. Speaker, all fisheries are important. All conservation measures are intended to make sure that we maintain a healthy stock. That is the responsibility of DFO. With respect to the capelin decision, we are reviewing the science. We will be coming out very soon with a determination for the harvesters in the coming weeks.

Madam Chair, the flooding was a huge cost and a huge tragedy. The lead ministries are other ministries, not DFO, but we have been at the table to bring forward our concerns and to check what the impact was on the spawning grounds and hatcheries in that area.

Mr. Chair, this analysis and development of regulations is being done by Environment and Climate Change Canada. It is not a partnership with DFO, but I take the member's point that it is very important that polystyrene be regulated so that it is not in the ocean in the same volume that it has been, because it is very deleterious to fish.
