Apparently, I interrupted the Prime Minister, who had not finished answering the question. I thought he had. Some hon. members: No. The Deputy Speaker: In that case, before giving the floor back to the member for Beloeil—Chambly, we will go back to the Prime Minister, so he can finish answering the question from the member for Thornhill. The hon. Prime Minister.

We crossed a couple of lines there, and I want us to be careful when we talk about misinformation and when we impugn other members and what they are doing. I want us to be careful. I heard it from all sides. Some hon. members: Oh, oh! The Deputy Speaker: Order, order. I can stand here for the rest of question period and then that would be that. Do we want to continue with question period? That is my question. An hon. member: Yes, please. The Deputy Speaker: That is very good. However, we are out of control. We need to bring it down a bit so the people watching from above and the people watching at home can understand that we are having a debate that is important to Canadians. Let us bring it down. Some hon. members: Hear, hear! The Deputy Speaker: The hon. member for Lethbridge.

Mr. Speaker, there are a thousand good ways to attack an opponent and there is no need to choose the wrong one. Unfortunately, during question period, the member for Pontiac made statements that were unfair and untrue. Many of us members from Quebec applauded the response yesterday from the Deputy Prime Minister. Some, like me, commented publicly. Others, like the member for Richmond—Arthabaska, made comments on social media. We all know the rules of Parliament. We know that we cannot state the opposite of the truth. Since individuals here have expressed support for the Deputy Prime Minister's comments, I believe the member for Pontiac was mistaken. I urge her to act with the dignity befitting her position.
