Mr. Speaker, Rafah experienced the worst horrors of war again last night with atrocities that defy humanity. As human beings from across the globe protested for the terror to end, those in power did not stop it. Shame on every leader who has allowed this to continue. Innocent lives have been taken and maimed, and the scars of the children will not be healed. The trauma of war is now imprinted in their DNA and will be a reoccurring trauma. The last eight months have been unthinkable trauma for Palestinians and Jews in communities all across the globe. Their histories will be forever scarred by the inhumanity of man. No one wins in war. I implore the Canadian government to stand up for humanity and peace. The drumbeat of war is spreading across the world to the point that the leader of the United Kingdom is now proposing mandatory conscription. There are nine days—

Mr. Speaker, as the member of Parliament for Port Moody—Coquitlam, Anmore and Belcarra, I can tell colleagues that, every day, when I come to this House, I work for the residents of my community. Just last week, there was an announcement of $25 million from the housing accelerator fund that came into my riding. I worked on that in conjunction with the HUMA committee and as a part of the confidence and supply agreement. It would not have happened if the NDP were not working and forcing the government. What the Conservatives did was to have a peaceful protester physically assaulted, roughed up, when the Leader of the Opposition, the leader of the Conservative Party, came to my riding. It was totally unacceptable for their leader to come to my riding and physically have their people manhandle someone. I did not appreciate it and—

Madam Speaker, the NDP has been very clear that we fully support peaceful protesting and exercising the right to gather together and fight for ideas and for change in the government. We absolutely protect the right of land defenders, environmentalists and those who take part in peaceful protests. What we saw over these last few weeks was unlawful occupation.
