The delivery has been under the minister's government and you are taking credit for a shipbuilding strategy. How does DFO manage fisheries when at-sea science data is absent?

Mr. Chair, the ships that go to sea have gone through inspections and are safe to sail. The reality is that new ships sometimes have problems that do not emerge until they are out on the water.

Mr. Chair, does the minister actually believe super trawlers should be able to process at sea instead of our Pacific exclusive economic zone? There is a current proposal right now to the department to allow this to happen. This would shutter shore processing plants and rendering facilities and actually impact communities, such as Ucluelet in my riding.
