Yes, Madam Speaker, by popular demand, I am back. I really missed these exchanges. Some of our great moments are on Thursdays, not just for CPAC viewers, but also for you and me personally, I know. Therefore it is wonderful to exchange and wonderful to be back. I want to wish members a good return. I hope everybody had a productive and happy time with their families and their constituents in their ridings. This afternoon, we will resume second reading debate of Bill C-66, the military justice system modernization act. Tomorrow, we will begin the report stage debate of Bill C-33, the strengthening the port system and railway safety in Canada act. On Monday, we will begin second reading debate of Bill C-63, the online harms act. Madam Speaker, you will be very happy to know that next Wednesday we will also be resuming second reading debate of Bill C-71, which would amend the Citizenship Act. I would also like to take the opportunity to inform the House that both next Tuesday and next Thursday shall be allotted days. Furthermore, on Monday, the Minister of Finance will table a ways and means motion on capital gains taxation that incorporates the feedback received during consultations over the summer. The vote will take place on Wednesday of next week during Government Orders.

Mr. Speaker, I appreciate my hon. colleague's very sincere effort, I am sure, to lay that on the record. I am sure he is in shock that there was not unanimous consent. However, my hon. colleague can rest assured that, when it comes to climate change, we will not allow inaction to be the rule of the day and that we will absolutely continue to take action to make sure climate change does not ravage this planet. I do want to pick up on the second-last comment that the hon. opposition House leader made, which were comments with respect to Family Day. I hope that he, and indeed all members in the House, take time with their families and with their constituents, and that they return to this place in good health. Tomorrow, we will resume debate on Bill C-34 to amend the Investment Canada Act at second reading. Upon our return on Monday, March 6, we will call Bill C-27 on the digital charter, at second reading. Tuesday shall be an allotted day. On Wednesday, we will commence debate on Bill C-33 concerning the port system and railway safety. Thursday will not only be the opportunity for my hon. colleague's favourite time of the week, another Thursday question, but we will also resume debate on Bill C-23 respecting historic places, at second reading. On Friday, we will continue second reading debate of Bill C-26, the cybersecurity legislation.

I move: That, notwithstanding any standing order, special order or usual practice of the House, following the completion of today's routine proceedings: (a) a member from each recognized party and a member from the Green Party may make a brief statement regarding the end of the sitting; and (b) after the statements, the House shall stand adjourned until Monday, January 30, 2023, provided that, for the purposes of any standing order, it shall be deemed to have been adjourned pursuant to Standing Order 28 and be deemed to have sat on Thursday, December 15 and Friday, December 16, 2022.

Mr. Speaker, it is good to see a vigorous Thursday question, one that contains many different questions. I will be happy to answer some that are outside the usual order for the Thursday question. Let me start with the good news. The member opposite actually ran on a price on pollution. He believed and campaigned on this, that it was a good idea that could help reduce emissions and make our planet cleaner. I am a little confused because he ran on that and now he says that he does not like the idea. That is something he may want to take up with his constituents. However, we will not cease in our actions to reduce— Some hon. members: Oh, oh!

Mr. Speaker, I am always happy to stand and answer a Thursday question, even when the member opposite is not excited to ask it. This evening, we will continue, and hopefully complete, debate at second reading of Bill C-13, concerning official languages. Tomorrow, we will commence debate on Bill C-18, an act respecting online communications platforms that make news content available to persons in Canada. We will return to this debate next Wednesday. At noon on Monday, we will resume debate on Bill C-14, which deals with electoral representation in Quebec. Next Tuesday and Thursday shall be allotted days. Finally, pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), I would like to designate Thursday, May 19, for consideration in committee of the whole of the main estimates for the Department of Public Works and Government Services. Furthermore, the debate for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans will take place on the evening of Monday, May 30. If the member opposite has any ideas on how to make this place work or has any ideas on how we can improve legislation, I am always here to hear it. Unfortunately, to this point in time, nothing has come forward.

Mr. Speaker, I understand my hon. colleague has a birthday coming up next week, so I wish him a very happy birthday between now and the next Thursday question. On the question with respect to the ministers the member is requesting be present in the committee of the whole, I will be happy to get back to him on that. With respect to extending sitting hours, I request that the ordinary hour of daily adjournment of the sitting on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, be 12 o'clock midnight, pursuant to an order made Monday, May 2, 2022. I am learning that this is the member's birthday, so he gets an opportunity to celebrate in this august place. This afternoon, we will resume second reading debate on Bill C-11 on broadcasting. Tomorrow and Monday, we will be continuing second reading debate of Bill C-19, the budget implementation act. Next Tuesday and Thursday will be opposition days, and we will return to the second reading of Bill C-11 on Wednesday.
