According to one article, police are monitoring the line at a Montreal food bank because people were fighting over food. Madam Speaker, the plank is in the eye of the person who just asked me if I could see the plank in mine.
We did indeed vote against that, but it was a vote of non-confidence in this government because even then we already had doubts about its ability to manage public money, Canadians' money.
My colleague's position is to defend the leader of the Bloc Québécois, who said, “We are not going to scrutinize everything the government spends. We just tell it to go ahead and hand out the money”.
If that is how the Bloc Québécois is going to run a country, I think it is going to have a hard time balancing its budget.

That is appalling, Madam Speaker.
The Leader of the Opposition was clear today. Yes, we need to investigate all of the contracts that were awarded. The member for Winnipeg North is talking about a few million dollars under the Conservatives. Yes, he is right.
However, we are talking about a total of $250 million that this government allegedly paid to GC Strategies, $250 million. The Liberals doubled the amounts that are given to consultants. They are now spending $20 billion a year on consultants when the public service has grown in size.
I think it is rather ironic to hear the member for Winnipeg North trying to lecture us when I have in front of me the report on ArriveCAN that indicates that the Liberals have no control over public spending.

Mr. Speaker, rather than making a decision immediately after David Johnston's resignation, as he could have done, why did the Prime Minister not announce an independent public inquiry? Instead, he sent another friend, the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, to make political statements to the media.
When will the Prime Minister realize that he cannot take help from a foreign country to win elections and decide on the inquiry process? His plan to lie low and buy himself time has failed. When will he stop the cover-up and immediately announce an independent public inquiry?

Mr. Speaker, like his good friend the Prime Minister, the loyal rapporteur turned a blind eye to important information in order to avoid recommending an independent public inquiry into the Beijing regime.
He did not see fit to question the Chief Electoral Officer. He did not question the member for Don Valley East. He did not consult the CSIS reports that were forwarded to the member for Durham. He did not read the CSIS reports that directly link Global Times, a disinformation newspaper, to the Chinese Communist Party. There was not a word about the police stations run by Beijing or the Trudeau Foundation.
Following this highly partisan demonstration, will the Prime Minister now announce an independent public inquiry?

Mr. Speaker, today, the Prime Minister said that he would launch a national public inquiry on foreign interference if necessary. Who will decide if it is necessary? The decision will be made by a former director of the Trudeau Foundation, which received an illegal donation from the regime in Beijing. I can already guess what the special rapporteur's response will be and how much credibility he has.
Yesterday, we gave every member of the House an unique opportunity to vote in favour of a independent national inquiry on foreign interference. All members of the House, except the government members, voted in favour of that motion.

It will be a secret committee with secret meetings, secret testimony, secret witnesses selected by the Prime Minister's Office and secret findings. Who will decide which findings are made public? Guess what? It will be the Prime Minister and his office.
